What’s up with the Neck and Shoulders??

Need a quick neck and shoulder release to help ease the stress and tension of the day?

It would be hard to find an adult that has never experienced neck and shoulder tension or pain. Thanks for finding me!

We hold so much tension in the neck and shoulders Especially when it’s cold. Especially when we hold the weight of the world on our shoulders.

The neck provides the path for the heart to communicate with the brain. it s a small space for all that intense energy! Any tension in the neck and shoulders will decrease the ability to take the deepest breath that we can, so releasing this area can be very powerful on so many levels.

Shoulders are complicated. They are the most mobile joint in the body which also leads to more instability. With our lifestyle, posture, stretching, or exercising wrong, the shoulder has become a lot of our biggest areas of tension and injury.

If you get acupuncture or follow Chinese medicine, pretty much every meridian (channel of energy) runs through the neck and shoulders. So chronic tension will lead to decreased flow of Qui, energy, or Prana, leading to discomfort, disease, and a decrease in the quality of life.

The neck and shoulders also house many important glands. The Thyroid is in the neck. Have you heard of it? It influencing things like metabolism, growth, and development, and body temperature. There are also lymph nodes in the chest and neck. Lymph nodes are vital in keeping your body healthy. Aiding the immune system to fight off infection and cleanse the Lymph of anything foreign. We also house the Thymus gland in our chest. Ever seen Tarzan, when he beats his chest? He’s doing something called a Thymus tap! It relieves stress, anxiety & fear. It boosts the immune system and our inner, primal strength. It is also vital to the immune system. Please don’t beat your chest though! Light tapping and stretching are all you need!

We also have 7 areas of the body that contain Chakras. They are described as spinning orbs of energy that should stay “open” and aligned, as they correspond to bundles of nerves, major organs, and areas of our energetic body that affect our emotional and physical well-being. The neck has the Throat Chakra- True inner voice, communication. The chest has the Heart Chakra- love and compassion.

ANYWAY, this is why you should spend the time on your neck and shoulders. Here’s a video that can help you with the release! Consult your doctor if you have shoulder and neck pain.
